Membership
Membership in GCARES is open to any amateur radio operator that has a genuine interest in serving their community. However, we like to see members who exhibit the following:
- Teachable mindset, always willing to learn and accept constructive criticism
- Be respectful and courteous
- Work cooperatively with team and other agency members, regardless of affiliation
- Maintain a professional appearance and behavior
- Be respectful of public and private property
- Willingness to share knowledge, experience, and training for the betterment of the community
- Willingness to serve the community, our served agencies, and events with tasks and/or assignments not exclusive to amateur radio-based roles
Levels of Membership
Member
- Interested in advance roles in AUXCOMM.
- Pays annual dues.
- Entitled to vote, hold office, and use GCARES branding at events.
- Eligible for sponsorship to advanced training.
- Registered as ARES volunteer.
Contributing Associate
- Has an interest in public service and public safety
- No dues required
- Not entitled to vote, hold office, or use GCARES branding
- Registered as an ARES volunteer
Additional Information
- All applications are reviewed and approved by the county Emergency Coordinator.
- Volunteers at all levels may be required to take specific training.
- Basic requirements include ARRL EC-001, and FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800
